PEACE AT LAST

OperaUpClose is looking for a BARITONE and a MEZZO-SOPRANO to join the autumn tour of our new opera for 3-5-year-olds, based on Jill Murphy’s picture book, Peace At Last. We particularly welcome applications from BAME artists.

This 35-minute opera has been composed by Joanna Lee for three singers (baritone, mezzo and soprano) accompanied by two instrumentalists (harp and woodwind), performed in a new English libretto by Robin Norton-Hale.

Peace At Last premiered in July with a 3-week summer tour to 19 primary schools in East London – we’re looking for a baritone and mezzo-soprano to join us as Mr and Mrs Bear for the autumn tour, which will visit schools and theatres across the UK between 21 Sep – 1 Nov 2019.

You will not be expected to be available for all the performance dates, as this role will be shared. When stating your interest, please let us know of any NAs during this period. All performances are daytime.

Rehearsals for new cast members will take place in September, ahead of the tour.

For the auditions, singers will be asked to prepare two arias, at least one should be in English.

If interested, please send your CV and availability (between 21 Sep - 1 Nov) to amy@operaupclose.com before 10am on 31 July. Auditions will be held in Canning Town (London) on 12th August.
